The number of Apps for Android OS has increased to about 38,000. The distance to iPhone OS, while still large, but the software selection for Android smartphones is still very large. These figures, however, say little about the quality of Apps. Currently, the widely acclaimed size is the quantity, not quality of the programs.
From June 2009 to March 2010, the number of apps in the Android Market increased by almost 5,000 to 30,000. Growing number of programs for Android OS on as quickly as currently stand at year 100 000 apps available. The quality of the apps and thus the benefit to the user, these figures say however little. Masses of wallpapers, ringtones and RSS readers, provide for high numbers. How many useful programs for various purposes is available to users, it not follow.
The sheer volume of apps is easier to measure than the quality of the software.User Ratings and download figures are, however, two additional criteria, which would provide a better measure for evaluation.
