Fast, faster, 4G. In addition to first cell phones like the HTC Evo 4G, is now also the first notebook manufacturers to bring laptops with the new standards for next generation mobile communications. In the U.S. there is already support providers, the 4G standards. When the trend is also to Germany?

In the United States is currently fighting two different standards for supremacy in the new high speed data communications. The provider relies on the Sprint Clearwire WiMAX technology and notes that will soon be available for more than 30 different computers and laptops on the market that will support 4G standard. Sun also recently announced Lenovo Business Notebooks in which both the current UMTS standard, as well as support in the form of WiMax 4G.

The competing providers AT & T and Verizon, however contact with Long Term Evolution (LTE) to a different standard. Qualcomm announced in this relation that the latest modem chipsets from Qualcomm will be compatible with LTE. Qualcomm modem the previous generation are used among others by Acer, HP, Dell and Lenovo. Through this deal, almost all the major manufacturers continue to be supplied with 4G-compatible modems. The odds are good that the 4G-wave will soon also start to leap across the pond.

So far, the development of hooks a little bit, because both technologies compete with each other and the lack of a single 4G standard. The situation is thus similar to the introduction of the VHS standard for video cassettes or Blu-ray. Customers must opt for a standard and thus commit themselves to a technology, because: the systems are not compatible. The market in Germany may be provided glad that this fight may be held earlier in the U.S.. Currently, there is the 4G standard by Sprint in 27 cities. The proliferation of LTE, however still hangs behind a little.

According to data compiled by the collaborative site XPnet at 23,000 computers, 86% of machines with Windows 7 functioned normally consume over 90% of installed RAM. Also the processor usage was much higher than other systems such as Windows XP. Windows 7 is a resource guzzler or an excellent manager of the same?

The analyst Craig Barth explained that according to data from the INMESA XPnet most computers with Windows 7 worked near the saturation point of forcing the RAM to throw virtual memory.

Barth called the consumption of resources as “alarming” but said he could not determine whether that use memory (between 90 and 95% in Windows 7 compared to 50% on Windows XP) was specific operating system or more open applications.

The analyst explained that the consumption was even more remarkable considering that the mean of RAM installed on computers with Windows 7 was twice that in Windows XP (3.3 vs. 1.7 GB).

Also, the burden of the microprocessor in Windows 7 is far superior to Windows XP, and here the average power of the former far exceeds that of XP. Is it a real glutton Windows 7? Get more / better resources available?
