The VP8 codec is now free

A shareholder of Sybase tries to block the deal to buy SAP

A shareholder of Sybase, Stephen Alberti, has filed a lawsuit intended to block the sale of the company to the seller of SAP applications, claiming that the 5,800 million dollars are not sufficient.

The lawsuit also asserts that the purchase agreement between SAP and Sybase includes a number of terms that “work as a deterrent to other potential bidders, ensuring that it is SAP who acquires the company.” In recent days there have been rumors that HP might be interested in making a takeover bid by Sybase.

Curiously, some experts have said that SAP would be overestimating the company in order to defend against potential counteroffers. Stephen Alberti, however, maintains that the price is too low, and that the company executives ‘benefit at the expense of the shareholders of the company “. The suit names several Sybase and SAP executives as defendants, including Sybase CEO John Chen.

It has also emerged that the purchase agreement includes a clause prohibiting Sybase’s board to discuss or seek proposals than the one made by SAP.

Google Android Store Now with more than 38,000 mobile phone apps

The number of Apps for Android OS has increased to about 38,000. The distance to iPhone OS, while still large, but the software selection for Android smartphones is still very large. These figures, however, say little about the quality of Apps. Currently, the widely acclaimed size is the quantity, not quality of the programs.

From June 2009 to March 2010, the number of apps in the Android Market increased by almost 5,000 to 30,000.
