Tangui Morlier will replace Sibaud Benedict as the head of April. Benedict will still be a part of the management team of the association by taking the post of vice president.
Member of the April (Association for the promotion and research in computer law) since 2006, Tangui Morlier becomes the new president, replacing Sibaud Benedict, who was the president of the association for five years.
“I hope to continue the work conducted by Benedict last five years. When he became president, the association had only 500 members and was not permanent. He leaves office with an incredible record: the April is now supported by over 5,000 members and was able to make its perennial mission of defending and promoting free software by hiring 3 employees. The fact that Benedict remains in office and agreed to support me as vice-president is very important to me, “said Tangui Morlier.
Tangui Morlier became interested in free software since 1998. He participated in the movement Copyleft Attitude and is a member of the collective StopDRM. He now finds himself as the head of an association of 5360 members: 4913 individuals and 447 legal persons (companies, associations, etc..). This success allows the association to have sufficient weight to make its voice heard, including at senior managerial and governmental spheres.
